Friday, September 28, 2001 - Saint Lucia has received top ratings from the UK travel trade.  According to American Express, Saint Lucia is amongst the best and safest long-haul destinations for travelers from the UK.  The American Express Top 10 list was determined through a survey of UK tour operators.

Other destinations making the Top 10 are Australia, Florida and California however Saint Lucia is one of the only two recommended Caribbean destinations.

One surveyed Tour operator, Kuoni, the UK’s leading long haul tour operator, Saint Lucia is still very popular in terms of new bookings for the winter season.

The Saint Lucia Tourist Board says this recognition comes at an opportune time in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks on America which is said will have a negative impact on traveler confidence.
