Review of NCA's Ranger Unit Begins |
Thursday, February 01, 2001 - Officials of the National Conservation Authority (NCA), on Friday, February 02, are to meet with management consultant Victor Poyotte as he begins his review of the NCA’s Ranger Unit. The review comes on the heels of recent decisions on the part of government and the St. Lucia Tourist Board, on repositioning the island in the tourism market. According to General Manager of the NCA Henry Charles, "The review is based on efforts to identify and establish St. Lucia as an upscale destination that provides a higher quality of service. With the Rangers Unit being one of the ancillary services within the tourism industry, we have no choice but to review our operations and determine where our shortcomings are and what we should do so that we can upgrade the service. The hope is that when St. Lucia is repositioned, our quality of service will be on par with what is being demanded by the market." The NCA has also been working with vendors towards the establishment of a strategic development programme. One-day workshops have been held with vendors in the south who are on the verge of establishing a vendors association. A major vendors mobilization campaign will begin this month aimed at getting feedback from vendors in devising the strategic development programme. |
