Monday, January 08, 2001 – Prime Minister, Honourable Dr. Kenny D. Anthony has invited representatives of the St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce, the St. Lucia Hotels & Tourism Association (SLHTA) and the Police Service to a meeting to discuss measures to deal with crime.  The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 08 and is expected to discuss several proposals that the private sector hopes to put forward.

The Prime Minister has emphasized that all sectors need to work together to ensure that St. Lucia’s reputation is not tarnished by incidents of crime.  The government will therefore continue to embrace suggestions from the private sector with a view to incorporating them into the government’s plans for dealing with the issue, he said.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister is expected to announce to the nation some of government’s plans to deal with crime when his New Year’s Message is aired at 8 p.m. on local radio and television stations, Monday.
