Tuesday, February 13, 2001 - Prime Minister Honourable Dr. Kenny D. Anthony has reassured representatives of the workers of Cable & Wireless that the Government of Saint Lucia has the workers’ interests uppermost in its mind. At a meeting with the employee’s representatives just before leaving for Barbados, Tuesday, Dr. Anthony, shared the government’s perspective on the issues between Cable & Wireless and the Government of Saint Lucia.

He told the union that the government is doing everything in its power to protect the workers’ interests and invited the employees’ representatives to ask questions on all issues that they needed clarification on as well as to share any concerns that they may have.

To ensure that the union was fully involved in the process, the Prime Minister invited the union to name a representative to a change management team comprising representatives of the Government of Saint Lucia and Cable & Wireless that will be set up to ensure a smooth transition to any new entity that is to take over from Cable & Wireless, in the event that it becomes necessary.

The Prime Minister will address the nation on the future of Cable & Wireless in St. Lucia on Sunday, February 18, upon his return from the 12th Inter-sessional Meeting of CARICOM Heads of Government in Barbados.
