Preparations for Feast of La Rose in Top Gear

Tuesday, August 14, 2001 -- La Rose groups from around the island are deeply into their Séances preparing for the grand finale on August 30.

A large number of groups will be represented at  this year’s celebration, which will be held in the community of Desruisseaux.  The day begins with a church service at the Desruisseaux Catholic Church followed by a motorcade from Desruisseaux to Ti Rocher, Micoud, then to Vieux Fort, Belle Vue and back to Desruiseaux.

The official opening ceremony begins in the early afternoon (August 30) and will include remarks by the Minister for Culture, Honourable Damian Greaves, following which, the respective groups will begin the various stage performances.

The La Rose Festival is one of Saint Lucia’s two annual flower festivals. The other is the La Marguerite held in October.
