PM Anthony to Tour Soufriere Constituency |

– Prime Minister,
Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony, is
embarking this weekend on another in his series of constituency tours. This time, it is the turn of the
Soufriere.
According to Hon.
Dr. Walter Francois, the parliamentary representative for Soufriere, Dr. Anthony
and his delegation will be paying close attention to the condition of roads in
Soufriere with a view to bringing abut some relief. The two-day tour starts on
Sunday.
“Our
road condition is not the best in significant portions of the constituency,”
said Dr. Francois, the Minister of Planning, Development and Housing. “For
instance, Fond Bennet, New Development, Bois Den, Chateau Belaire, Zion, Road to
Edmond Forest, Etangs, Deville, Union Vale, La Croix, so the Prime Minister will
see first hand the condition of the infrastructure in the constituency,” Dr.
Francois added.
Dr. Francois said
he also expects there will be discussion on the installation of telephone
service as well as work on the new sub-division that has been created in Baron’s
Drive to relocate residents affected by Hurricane Lenny in November 1999.
The
tour begins with a church service in the Soufriere Town on Sunday
followed by a visit to Edmond Forest to take a first hand look at the trails
that exist there for Jungle Tours and the development of Heritage Tourism.
Residents of
Soufriere will have an opportunity share their views and concerns with the Prime
Minister during his visit. Already Dr. Anthony has visited the constituencies of Laborie, Saltibus/Choiseul, Castries South, Anse La Raye /Canaries, Castries East, Dennery South and Vieux Fort North. |
