New UN Ambassador Appointed |

Mr. Earl Huntley has been appointed as Saint Lucia’s Ambassador and Permanent
Representative to the United Nations in New York. The appointment became
effective September 01, 2001.
Most recently, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and
International Trade, Huntley is the country’s longest serving diplomat, having
joined the Foreign Ministry in 1978 and has been the Permanent Secretary and
Head of the diplomatic service for last twenty years.
The
newly appointed ambassador is one of the region’s leading advocates of closer
political integration in the Caribbean and has written several pieces on
political union in the Eastern Caribbean.
He replaces Senator the Honourable Julian Hunte who is currently serving as Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Trade. |
