New Communications and Works Ministry Promises Better and Efficient Service |

– The new $17
million building complex housing the offices of the Ministry of Communications,
Works, Transport and Public Utilities is adequately equipped to administer
effectively and efficiently the mandates of its various departments. This is the
view of government and ministry officials who attended the official opening of
the complex Sunday.
Minister for
Communications, Works, Transport and Public Utilities, Senator Calixte George
declared that this new facility will provide a number of benefits both to the
staff and members of the public. The Minister indicated that there will be
improvements in customer care and service, reduction in operating cost, increase
revenue collection, and a more centralize operation enhancing the morale and
efficiency of staff.
Prime Minister and
Minister for Finance, the Honourable Dr. Kenny Anthony told the gathering that
his government continues to be committed to contributing to employment and
economic development. The Prime Minister indicated that from April 1998 to
February 2001, close to three hundred workers were employed on site, which
included ten separate contractors.
The new Ministry of Communication and Works building is constructed on three acres of land and includes, a restaurant, six eating rooms, sporting facilities and clubhouse. |
