Wednesday, July 25, 2001 – Residents of  Monchy  will soon have a better playing field to pursue various sporting activities.

The Government of France has teamed up with the Ministry of Education, Human Resource Development, Youth and Sports to finance the upgrading of the Monchy playing field at a cost of  EC$90,000.

At a signing ceremony on Monday,  French Ambassador, His Excellency Henri Vidal, expressed France’s support for the development of sports and education in St. Lucia. He also said France was committed to sustaining the present level of bilateral cooperation with St. Lucia.

Hon. Mario Michel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Human Resource Development, Youth and Sports, lauded France’s involvement in the Monchy community project.  He said the project would not have been possible with the generous French assistance.
