His
Excellency Victor Ramirez, Cuba’s first resident ambassador to Saint Lucia,
officially began his tour of duty on Wednesday. During an audience at
Government House with
Governor-General Her Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy, Ambassador Ramirez
presented his credentials to the Government of Saint Lucia. In remarks, the
Governor-General said Saint Lucia was pleased to have a resident Cuban
ambassador, noting it will help to further deepen the cordial relations which
already exist between the two countries.
“Indeed, as you indicated, your assignment here is a reflection of the level of
cooperation that we have established and the expressed mutual satisfaction of
the outcomes of our joint initiatives,” Dame Pearlette said. She added: “We have long been
at the receiving end of your government’s generosity and hospitality,
particularly in the field of education and training, and so we look to the
creation of more collaborative efforts and programmes between your country and
ours.” Cuba’s diplomatic relations with Saint Lucia were previously managed through its embassy in Barbados. |
