Corinth Secondary Prepares for National Lantern Competition |
Friday, December 07, 2001 - On the invitation of the Department of Culture scores of students from secondary schools on the island have begun preparing themselves to participate in the annual end-of-year Lantern Competition. With some assistance from personnel from the Department of Culture the Corinth Secondary School this week staged a lantern-making workshop. Teacher and Chief Organizer Peter St. Pierre says everybody enjoyed the workshop and was excited about it. “Following that we asked some of the students to participate in the national competition. We have been able to see a lot of creativity, teamwork, cooperation and innovation and we’re excited to be part of the national lantern competition.”
Pierre says his students have no interest in becoming anything but the best and are going out to win the competition. “I think with all the preparation we’ve put into this we are going to do very well under both the traditional and national categories, as our students are ready to take part in the competition.” The National Lantern Competition takes place on December 11. |
