May

Development and Women's Issues, and a Government Whip in the House of Lords in
the United Kingdom, will visit St Lucia from May 18 - 24, 2001 as part of the
delegation that will converge on St. Luca for the meeting of the Board of

Lucia Solid Waste Management Project, which is partly funded by the UK. Baroness
Amos will also visit the Natural Resources Management Unit of the Organisation
of Eastern Caribbean States. The British Government, through the Department for
International Development in the Caribbean has, over the last 4 years, financed
a number of programmes undertaken by the NRMU in areas such as
coastal resources management, watershed management, fisheries management and
development and environmental planning. Baroness
Amos will unveil a plaque to commemorate the formal opening of the new extension
to the offices of the NRMU, which was also financed by the British Department
for International Development. This extension will greatly improve working
conditions, as well as facilitate the recruitment of additional staff to
undertake the increasing natural resources management portfolio of the NRMU. |
