The
community of Anse-La-Raye is to receive further attention from the Basic Needs
Trust Fund (BNTF). The latest assistance will come via a skills training centre
that will be erected in that community. The centre, costing over 50 thousand
dollars is to be completed within 5-6 weeks and will be managed under the
supervision of the Centre for Adolescent Rehabilitation and Education (CARE). According to Community Worker attached to the Basic Needs Trust Fund Mathias Bert, one of the components of the programme is skills training together with infrastructural works. “This building that we’re going to construct size 38feet by 20feet is for a workshop, storage room and classroom. The BNTF together with the Caribbean Development Bank is looking at the possibility after this phase to sponsor equipment for the school in Anse-La-Raye so that they can have additional equipment making their carpentry and joinery rooms fully operational,” Bert said. The overall goal of the centre is to equip young persons with the needed skills to make them employable or to venture off into their own enterprises. The administrative staff of CARE has welcomed the setting up of the centre, which will benefit not only students from Anse-La-Raye but Canaries and environs as well. |
