Training Needs Analysis Program Gets Underway |
Monday, January 17, 2000 - Over 30 participants from 11 countries (including host country St. Lucia) are currently engaged in a two-week workshop geared towards upgrading skills in training design and training delivery. The programme is being undertaken by the Ministry of the Public Service, with the Management Training Services Division of the Commonwealth Secretariat (MTSD) and the Government of Saint Lucia. Persons employed should be knowledgeable of the areas in which they are required to perform such tasks. It is incumbent therefore on all parties to provide relevant training for employees. In providing a brief overview of the programme, workshop facilitator, Mr. Thomas George, Senior Projects Coordinator with the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN), Malaysia, said the pace of change, the challenge of globalization, advance in information and communication technology as well as changes in political and economic strategies require continued learning. The modules in the course include, Human Resource Development in Organisations, Manpower Planning and Evaluating Training. The programme will be conducted in two phases. The first phase began today and will end on January 28 whilst the second phase will take place from January 31 to February 4, 2000. |
