Ste. Lisi Par Excellence Awards Growing Bigger |
Tuesday, February 08, 2000 - Although the official ceremony for the second annual Ste. Lisi Par Excellence Awards has gone, the excitement has not died down. This is because there is every indication that the event is destined to grow. The awards are designed to recognize and honour every player in the industry and Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation and International Financial Services, Honourable Menissa Rambally, who chairs the awards committee, says given the significance of the tourism industry, Government will implement strategies to ensure that workers within the industry are given due recognition. "I want to assure the workers of the industry that this government believes in the workers of the tourism industry - in all the sectors - and so we will continue to place importance on events such as this and ensure that each year we give our outstanding workers an opportunity to be recognized truly for the wonderful contribution that they put in to ensure that tourism is the success that it now is in St. Lucia....Each year we want to incorporate more persons and make everybody feel very special about the industry," said Miss Rambally. Five new categories were included in this year's awards. The most coveted award of Hospitality Industry Worker of the Year went to Cheryl Brown of Sandals St. Lucia Golf Resort & Spa, who drove away in a sixty thousand dollar car donated by Reliable Motors and the government of Saint Lucia. |
