Public to be on Sensitized on Establishment of Caribbean Court of Appeal |
Wednesday, May 10, 2000 – Saint Lucia is soon to launch a three month intensive public awareness campaign aimed at sensitizing the public about the soon to be established Caribbean Court of Justice. The island’s Attorney General, Senator the Honourable Petrus Compton says a small committee to spearhead the awareness programme will soon be nominated and a two member delegation from CARICOM will be on island to assist the committee in launching the campaign later this month. "What I have discovered is that a lot of the opposition and questioning of the court comes about as a result of lack of information on what is being proposed and the Preparatory Committee is very clear in its mandate – we have to put information out into the public domain," Compton said. With the introduction of the campaign, information will be made available to the media, the legal fraternity and the wider public. |
