Prime Minister Revisits Vieux Fort Comprehensive School |
Friday June 30, 2000
–
Staff and students of the Vieux - Fort Comprehensive Secondary School (Campus B)
on Friday June 30, engaged in open discussion with the Prime Minister,
Honourable Dr. Kenny D. Anthony, who visited the school to familiarize the
students with matters of government and to determine their concerns about their
school environment and community.
Given
that the Prime Minister is also a past pupil of the school, School Principal,
John Monrose believes that Dr. Anthony’s interaction with the students could
motivate them to aim higher. Said
Monrose, “We welcome this as providing our kids with the motivation, with the
inspiration and with the desire to move forward.” Just
recently, the Prime Minister visited the school while a donation of paint was
being made to uplift the structure. The
students seemed very pleased with the “chit chat session.” To them, Dr.
Anthony’s visit was more than just social interaction, but an opportunity to
look ahead at their future as great public figures and making meaningful
contributions to society. As one
student put it, the Prime Minister was “going back to his roots.”
