Young St. Lucians who have been expelled or suspended from school for misdemeanors are now able to benefit from an innovative programme facilitated by the Community Relations Branch of the Royal St. Lucia Policy Force.

Officer John Paul says the Suspension Programme has been specifically designed to cater to the needs of wayward youngsters. "We have them come in during their school hours. If they were supposed to be at school at 9 O’clock, they would be at Police Headquarters from 9:00 am, where we cater for those students. If school normally is over about 3:00 pm, we would leave them there up to 3 0 Clock. They would go for their lunch as usual. It is not a school yet we operate as a school," Said Paul.

While enrolled in the programme students will be taught time management and ways of engaging themselves in productive activity.
