New Day Care Centre for La Caye Dennery

Friday, January 07, 2000 – A new day-care centre estimated at over four hundred thousand dollars will soon be constructed in the community of La- Caye. Last Thursday government officials along with residents of the area gathered to witness the sod-turning ceremony. The majority of the funding is being provided through the STABEX fund at three hundred and sixty thousand dollars ($360, 000.00).

Minister for Community Development and Parliamentary Representative for Dennery South, Honourable Damian Greaves says he is relieved that this long-awaited project has finally come to fruition. He says the project will provide several benefits for the community, including primary health care, and will enable mothers to find employment outside the home, as they would no longer have to stay home to care for their children.

The facility is expected to be completed by June this year and will accommodate about Sixty children. The centre was designed by the Ministry of Planning and will be constructed by local contractor William St. Juste.
