Management Training Workshop Gets Underway at SLASPA |
Monday, May 22, 2000 – Eighteen senior supervisors from various departments of the Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority, are participating in a training workshop, geared towards improving their managerial skills. The workshop began on today and is being conducted by the Institute of Business of the University of the West Indies. Workshop conductor, Susan Davis says, "We’re looking at building their communication skills, decision making and problem solving skills, conflict resolution skills, personality problems and negotiation skills, during the course of the next six months." The exercise is being viewed as a crucial step towards the overall development of SLASPA’s human resources, especially given the fact that the organization employs over three hundred monthly staff workers, plus an additional five hundred casual workers. Upon completion of the workshop, participants will receive a certificate, endorsed by the University of the West Indies, and will also be expected to pass on the acquired knowledge and skills to their co-workers. |
