LUCELEC to Stage Linesman Rodeo |
Thursday, January 27, 2000 - Dozens of employees and contractors allied to the St. Lucia Electricity Services (LUCELEC) will take part in what is being called a Linesman’s Rodeo on the weekend. LUCELEC’s Training Manager, Necole Du Boulay says the daylong exercise scheduled for Sunday, January 30, 2000, will provide linesmen with a unique opportunity to display their skills and level of professionalism. She says the activities are mostly technical in nature. "We are going to have several things such as service and meter installation, fuse installation, changing transformers, pole top rescue and a mystery event that has not been disclosed to participants as yet. There will be several poles set up to facilitate pole climbing and the like. We also have two lines women who work with LUCELEC and they will also be performing on Sunday," said Du Boulay. Mrs. Du Boulay says although most participants in Sunday’s activity come from St. Lucia, a team from Dominica’s Electricity Services has also been invited to participate, together with the company’s technical trainers from the United States. The event will take place on the site for Assou Square in Cul-De-Sac. |
