Wednesday, April 26, 2000 – Local media practitioners were briefed today on the operations of the Eastern Caribbean Securities Market and the institutions and opportunities associated with the new facility.  The one-day seminar is also aimed at improving and imparting the skills needed to report on securities markets.

Deputy Director with the Financial Enterprise and Development Unit within the Governor’s Office of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), Dr. Oral Williams says this seminar forms part of a series of meetings being held within the region on the Eastern Caribbean Securities Market. “There’s a three year marketing and awareness programme and this particular seminar, is just part of that series.   We held two seminars earlier towards the end of February in Saint Lucia for intermediaries or broker dealers and we had one in early March for issuers or public companies that were listed on the exchange,” Williams said.

The seminar is the fourth such for the media in the OECS.
