Cable & Wireless to Assist Soufriere Residents |
Thursday, January 13, 2000 – Residents of Soufriere affected by the passage of Hurricane Lenny, late last year have received twenty thousand dollars from the Sports and Social Club of Cable and Wireless. According to Parliamentary Representative for Soufriere Honourable Walter Francois, the money will assist in the construction of homes for some eight families still in shelters. A new site has been identified and preparation work has already begun. It is expected that the first two bedroom pre-fabricated structure will be built in early February. Members of the Sports and Social Club who were present during a ceremony Tuesday say their organisation is happy to be associated with such a worthwhile venture. The Parliamentary Representative thanked the company for the kind gesture and called on other corporate citizens to rally to such a worthwhile cause. |
