Cabinet to Hold Special Session on Lucelec Reform Proposals |
Contact: Prime Minister's Press Secretary November 22, 2000 The Cabinet of Ministers will soon hold a special, extraordinary session to consider the LUCELEC Review Commission’s report and several reform proposals on the government’s agenda. The special Cabinet retreat, which will take place at a venue outside of Castries, will consider proposals for Reform of the Public and Health Sectors, as well as transformation of the island’s postal services. At the special retreat, the Cabinet ministers will also consider the voluminous report and recommendations of the LUCELEC Review Commission, which was submitted several weeks ago and has now been considered by individual ministers. The special out-of-town Cabinet session will take place on December 1 at a venue still to be announced. A Cabinet spokesman explained the selection of a venue away from the Cabinet room and outside of the city, saying: "Given the nature of the topics and their importance to the country, a venue out of town will provide for the sort of atmosphere that will be more conducive to the consideration of all the reports." |
