2nd Edition of "PORTRAIT" Out |
Monday, January 17, 2000 - Young writers of District IV - which consist of schools in Babonneau, South Castries and Anse-La-Raye - have shown the product of their intellectual labors through the second publication of a yearly school magazine, "PORTRAIT". The idea was conceptualized about three years ago, out of a District IV principals’ meeting. At that forum discussions focused on the poor writing and creative ability of a large number of students. It was then agreed that a magazine could serve as a springboard to help students put into practice the English Language concepts being taught by their teachers.
The magazine comprises stories and letters written by students from Grades 2 to7. This second edition also consists of a Guest Editorial, and a Message Column featuring Education Minister Hon. Mario Michel, and Acting Chief Education Officer, Gaspard Charlemagne. Persons wishing to obtain a copy of the magazine may do so by making a contribution of $2.00. The small contribution will be used to defray the cost of ink. PORTRAIT can be purchased from any of the schools in District IV. |
