Wasa's Corpratisation to Benefit the Economy |
Contact: Rose Marie Harris March 9, 1999 - The corporatisation of the Water and Sewerage Authority will benefit other sectors of the Saint Lucian economy. According to WASA Copratisation Officer, Martin Satney, government is at the moment subsidizing a lot of the company’s operations. These financial resources being poured into WASA, Satney says can now filter into the operations of such areas as education and the health sector. The privatisation efforts will also allow the Water and Sewerage Authority a chance to pay up its own debts and begin to create a new public image. "From the standpoint of the public, the customers will want to know that they will get a better service, while from the employees’ standpoint, which includes management, they will be happy to know that they can identify with a much more pro-active organisation, one that is seeking continuous improvement and therefore you can have better job satisfaction." Satney added. |
