January 25, 1999 - Prime Minister, Honourable Dr. Kenny D. Anthony has written to the business community, including banks, seeking assistance to restore the Constitution Park which has been in a state of disrepair for some time.

The restoration project has been estimated at $75, 000. 00 and is expected to take three weeks to complete. It is proposed to have the project completed in time for the observance of St. Lucia’s twentieth anniversary of independence.

In his letter to the business community, Prime Minister Anthony urged the business houses, particularly those in the immediate vicinity of the Park, to contribute to this worthwhile project. The Prime Minister notes these businesses would benefit directly from the enhancement of their immediate environment. Additionally, Dr. Anthony’s letter says, the contribution to the project would be a fitting tribute by the business houses to the constitutional achievements of the people of St. Lucia and it is intended that recognition of the sponsoring organizations will be incorporated into the landscape design.

The restoration of the Constitution Park is part of government’s ongoing programme for the enhancement and beautification of the environment.
