March 1, 1999 - Prime Minister the Hon. Dr. Kenny Anthony is leading a government delegation to the United Kingdom, for talks with British officials on a number of issues. While in the UK Dr. Anthony along with Tourism Minister the Hon. Phillip J. Pierre and other top officials of the St. Lucia Tourist Board will hold discussions with travel Agents and Tour Operators, as part of activities for "St. Lucia Week 99".

The discussions will focus on the importance of the British market to St. Lucia as a tourist destination. The March 1 – 4 promotional event is to climax with a gala awards dinner for tour operators.

Prime Minister Anthony will also discuss with British government officials, the need for continued support from the UK in matters involving agriculture, particularly the banana sector.

Dr. Anthony will also seize the opportunity to dialogue with the sizeable St. Lucian Community in the U.K. He is to returns to the state on the weekend.

While he is away Commerce, Industry and Consumer Affairs Minister the Hon. Dr. Walter Francois will act as Prime Minister.

Meantime Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of tourism the Hon. Menissa Rambally will on March 5 lead another tourism delegation, this time to Berlin - Germany for the annual I.T.B show. While in Germany the delegation will seek to boost interest in St. Lucia by meeting with tour operators and travel agents on a one on one basis.
