PM Begins Tour of Constituencies this Weekend |
Contact: Roger Joseph January 15, 1999 - Prime Minister Honourable Dr. Kenny D. Anthony begins a series of tours to constituencies around the island this weekend. From January 17 - 19, the Prime Minister, some members of the Cabinet of Ministers and other government officials will tour the Choiseul/Saltibus constituency. The purpose of the tour is to dialogue with the people about their problems and needs, as well as the issues and challenges facing the country, away from the official trappings of the Prime Minister’s office. The tour will begin with the Prime Minister attending the 9 a.m. Sunday church service at Saltibus. During the course of the three-day familiarization tour, Dr. Anthony will visit the Choiseul Police Station, the Credit Union and other institutions. He will also tour surrounding communities such as reunion and La Fargue to engage in discussions with the constituents. The Prime Minister will be accompanied by Honourable Mario Michel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Human Resource Development, Youth and Sports, Honourable Senator Calixte George, Minister for Communications, Works, Transport and Public Utilities, Honourable Ferguson John, Parliamentary Representative for the area and several other officials. This first constituency tour, especially the fact that it begins in Saltibus, will have significant sentimental value for the Prime Minister having gone to school there in his youth. According to Dr. Anthony, he is looking forward to the opportunity to go back to his roots. |
