New School Term to Start on Tuesday, September 07 |
September 2, 1999 - The Ministry of Education, Human Resource Development, Youth & Sports has announced that the new school term will begin Tuesday, September 07, instead of Monday, September 06, as originally scheduled. The change is to facilitate the completion of a teacher-training workshop. With the exception of students enrolled in the new secondary schools at Babonneau and Anse Ger, all primary and secondary school students are expected to report to school on Tuesday. Students of the new secondary schools have been asked to report to school on Monday, September 13, 1999. However, due to delays in construction, these students will not be entering the new premises as previously scheduled. They will be temporarily accommodated at two other institutions. In the case of students enrolled in the Babonneau Secondary School, they will be accommodated at the Rock Hall Senior School on a shift system. Students enrolled in the Anse Ger Secondary School will be similarly accommodated at the Micoud Secondary School. The Education Ministry says these arrangements will be maintained throughout the first term and is certain that the new schools will be ready to accommodate the assigned students by the start of the second term in January next year. The Minister of Education, Human Resource Development, Youth & Sports, Honourable Mario Michel, will address the nation on this issue among others on Monday in his address to mark the opening of the new school year. The radio and television broadcast is scheduled for 8 p.m. |
