Independence 2000 - Logo and Theme Selected

November 25, 1999 - Saint Lucians are preparing for their 21^st Anniversary of Independence. Already the Cabinet appointed National Independence Committee has selected an appropriate logo and theme for the event.

Among a number of entries for the logo and theme, Callistus George has emerged the winner of the theme competition entitled "Approaching the Future With Vision." Mr. George receives $3,5000 EC dollars plus a trophy. Vaughn Downes who captured the prize for the Logo design will receive $1,5000 plus a trophy.

The Logo is in the process of being printed and will be distributed as early as December in an effort to raise the awareness of Saint Lucia’s to the island’s 21^st Anniversary of Independence.

In the meantime, the Independence Committee has been meeting and planning for Independence 2000 . The proposals are expected to be taken to Cabinet for approval next week.
