World No Tobacco Day '98

May 29, 1998 - St. Lucia will join the rest of the international community on Sunday May 31, in observance World No Tobacco Day.

The theme chosen this year is "Growing Up Without Tobacco," and according to Health Educator attached to the St. Lucia Cancer Society - Sandra Wilfred, the focus is being shifted from the simple one-day observance, to getting St. Lucians year round to recognize the dangers of tobacco smoking.

She says despite the small printed warnings on tobacco products, manufactures often go all out in their attempts at selling tobacco and tobacco laden products.
