Contact: Julita Peter May 25, 1998 - The Ministry of Tourism has joined the public in their favorable expressions concerning the recently locally filmed movie "Creature". Tourism Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre is heartened by the favorable comments currently being made locally as a result of the television viewing of the film creature. The Minister reacted because his Ministry had sought and received the approval of the Cabinet of Ministers on behalf of trilogy entertainment north limited for concessions to film the movie. A waiver on import duty, consumption tax and service charge facilitated trilogy Entertainments venture, consumption tax and service charge on all items brought into the island by the US Film Company. The waiver included motion picture equipment, materials, wardrobe and other miscellaneous materials. The Minister said that the concessions granted to Trilogy Entertainment are in keeping with the aims of the recently established Film Commission which aim is to promote St. Lucia within the worldwide film industry as a prime location for films, which require a tropical environment. Some of the functions of the film commission are to find locations in St. Lucia to suit the needs of particular producers who are developing projects, to develop a film and photo library to house all available materials to make them available to the interested parties and to provide information regarding the availability of support services in St. Lucia and to make that information available to producers. |
