June 2, 1998 - The St. Lucia Senate will meet later this morning under Senate President Hilford Deterville, to consider a number of Papers to be laid by the Minister of Communications, Works, Transport, Public Utilities and Leader of Government Business Sen. Calixte George. Among the motions to be moved by Senator George, is that the Senate to authorize the minister of finance to guarantee a loan of EC$ 1, 400,000.00, obtained from the National Commercial Bank by the Soufriere Regional Development Foundation Ltd., for financing the upgrading of the Sulphur Springs. The Senate to approve the Consumption Tax Amendment. Senator George will also present the Travel Tax Amendment Bill for its first reading, the Motor Vehicles Insurance (Third Party Risks) Amendment Bill for its first reading and the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Amendment Bill for its first reading. It is the intention of the Hon. Leader of Government Business to seek leave of the Senate, to enable these Bills to be taken through their remaining stages at todays sitting. |
