August 28, 1998 - The post Tropical Storm Debbie relocation exercise in the community of Anse La Raye is about 70% percent complete and government’s contribution to the exercise is expected to conclude within the coming weeks.

The update on the project comes ahead of the 4th anniversary of the September 9 passage of Tropical Storm Debbie which caused infrastructure damage estimated between $50 million - $60 million dollars.

The Anse La Raye relocation exercise has several components, which includes the establishment of a loan facility at the St. Lucia Development Bank and a $10,000 grant facility at the National Commercial Bank for persons wishing to relocate existing residential structures to Autabor.

The area near the bay - Lagear Colon - was the most affected with the erosion of the foundation of several houses. Government received $2.14 million under the European Commission’s Emergency Line for Disaster and agreed to contribute towards the infrastructual development of the new site at Autabor.
