OAS Small Hotel Project

May 21, 1998 - Small hoteliers here have been advised to implement an independent evaluation of their product and operations. This suggestion came from the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation and International Financial Services, Percival McDonald.

Speaking at the opening of a one day session of an orientation meeting of the OAS Caribbean Small Hotel Assistance Project, Wednesday, Mr. McDonald stated that the ministry is aware that such an evaluation has never taken place in the small hotel sector here, hence the reason for that project.

Director of the organization of American states, Alphonsus Antoine, reiterate his organization's commitment to the OECS leaders in assisting in shaping the directions that tourism should take.  Mr. Antoine also expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation existing between the OAS and the St. Lucia government.
