May 27, 1998 - Areas of co-operation between St. Lucia and Israel are to increase even further in the near future, as the island Tuesday welcomed Israel’s latest appointed ambassador.

In presenting his letters of credence Tuesday, Israel’s ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to St. Lucia His Excellency Pinchas Lavie, assured continued co-operation on the part of his government in areas of agriculture, public health, community development and settlement. The sixteen year relationship between the two countries is expected to mushroom into greater commercial and economic activity.

From St. Lucia’s side of the arrangement, Israel is expected to benefit via the island success in the area of tourism. Her Excellency The Governor General Dr. Pearlette Louisy, told the Ambassador, that St. Lucia was monitoring Israel’s efforts in securing lasting peace in the Middle East, being heartened at every successful initiative while saddened by every set back.
