Int'l Year of Older Persons

June 22, 1998 - The International Year of Older Persons will officially be launched on UN International Day of Older Persons, October 1, 1998.  Help Age St. Lucia, National Council of and for Older Persons is celebrating the event by hosting an exhibition of work done by senior citizens at the Castries City Hall, where the launching ceremony will be held.

The Council has celebrated International Day of Older Persons annually for the past eight years with a week of activities and award ceremonies for outstanding older persons.   The National Council hopes that displaying the elderly's talent and productivity, will shed a more positive light on St. Lucian senior citizens as the year progresses.
