Dennery Disaster Cmttee Looks for H.Q. |
By John Emmanuel September 4, 1998 - Chairman of the Dennery Disaster Preparedness Committee Ivan Gaspard, says plans are well on stream for providing the seven-year-old committee with a permanent headquarters. According to Gaspard, the committee has completed a long process of internal restructuring, which has allowed it to successfully undertake a number of projects over the last year. Among them are a series of beach clean-up campaigns, and numerous contributions to needed victims along with other worthwhile causes. According to Gaspard the committee has spent the sum of $8,000 (which went to benefit fire victims, medical treatment and the Montserrat relief Fund). Mr. Gaspard says that now that these matters have been dealt with, the committee has allocated some $3,000 toward finding a permanent home base. Over the next few months a number of fund-raising initiatives have been planned for the realization of that goal. |
