Commission to Re-start |
Contact: Richmond Felix June 19, 1998 - Sir Louis Blom-Cooper Q.C., Commissioner to the Inquiry which has been appointed to look into alleged acts of corruption in government, has give notice of the provisional programme for forthcoming hearings. First it is intended that oral evidence relating to the Nationwide Properties issue will not be taken until the Commission resumes on September 14, 1998. Hence the persons who have an interest in that matter may not be present during the forthcoming sessions. The Commission will open its hearing in public on Monday, June 22. At that time Council to the Commission, Allen Alexander, will outline the facts relating to the two other issues referred to in the Commission's terms of reference:
This is expected to take up the entire day's sittings and will be followed by the taking of oral evidence relating to the Roseau Bay/Genesis issue on Tuesday, June 23. At the conclusion of the Roseau Bay issue, the Commission will then commence hearing evidence relating to the Shanty Town affair. The sittings will continue until July 3 or until the conclusion of all the evidence. Sitting will take place at the Parliament Building in Castries from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm, Monday to Friday. All official statements and other notices to the media from the Commission of Inquiry will be issued from the Government Information Service. |
