September 29, 1998 - Prime Minister Honourable Dr. Kenny D. Anthony on Monday, presented a cheque in the amount of EC$169,000.00 to the government of Montserrat. The presentation was made in St. Kitts during a fact-finding visit to the islands damaged by Hurricane Georges.

The money is a contribution towards the CARICOM village being built in Montserrat. The total comprises a contribution of EC$19,000.00 by the Government of St. Lucia, EC$50,000.00 representing the gate receipts from the CARICOM Party at Mindoo Philip Park at which President Nelson Mandela was the special guest, and EC$100,000.00 representing contributions received from the people of St. Lucia.

The brief presentation was carried live on St. Kitts national radio with the Montserrat Minister for Agriculture, Honourable Austin Bramble, receiving the cheque on behalf of the government and people of Montserrat.
