MESSAGE TO THE GOVERNMENT AND PEOPLE OF SAINT LUCIA

FROM THE REPRESENTATIVE AND STAFF OF THE OFFICE OF THE OAS GENERAL SECRETARIAT IN SAINT LUCIA, ON THE OCCASION

OF THE NATION’S 32nd ANNIVERSARY OF INDEPENDENCE

The Office of the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS) extends to the Government and People of Saint Lucia hearty congratulations on the celebration of the 32nd Anniversary of Independence.

Saint Lucia marks yet another milestone on the road to the consolidation of nationhood.  This occasion offers the opportunity to reflect on past challenges, and to celebrate triumphs earned along the way.

There is, in particular the opportunity to look forward, as you continue to lay the solid foundation which is critical to forging the future of your country.  Amidst the uncertainties of a challenging world, may you be divinely guided as you move forward, and as you harness the strength, resilience and creativity of all sectors of the population to achieve a common purpose.

The Organization of American States will continue to serve as a partner on this journey, supporting your efforts to improve the lives and the well being of all Saint Lucians.  The OAS Office in Saint Lucia reiterates its firm commitment to working with you all on this shared mission, and to serving your country.  On behalf of the Secretary-General Dr. Jose Miguel Insulza, and the Assistant Secretary-General Ambassador Albert Ramdin, as well as the authorities and staff of the OAS General Secretariat, this office extends every good wish on Saint Lucia’s Anniversary of Independence.
