Amendment to the Policy on the Importation of Used Vehicles |
The
Minister responsible for Finance, in exercise of the power conferred by section
142 of the Customs (Control and Management) Act 1990, No. 23, made the following
amendment to the third schedule of the Customs (Control and Management)
Act,1990: Amendment
of Third Schedule 1.
The Customs (Control and Management) Act, 1990 is amended in Part I
deleting items 15 and inserting the following new items — -
A used motor vehicle not exceeding three tons in weight and which is more
than five years old. -
A used motor vehicle exceeding three tons in weight and which is more
than ten (10) years old. -
Goods, the importation of which is prohibited by any other enactment. Non-application
of section 2 2.
Section 2 shall not apply to a used vehicle imported by — -
a returning resident under section X paragraph (c) of the List of
Conditional Duty Exemptions; -
a non-national taking up long term employment contract in Saint Lucia; or -
a returning national within the meaning of “returning national” under
the Customs Duties (Amendment) Order 1998, No. 2. NO
CONSIDERATION WILL BE GIVEN TO ANYONE WHO IMPORTS USED VEHICLES THAT DOES NOT
FALL IN CONFORMITY WITH THE ABOVE POLICY. |
