Monday, February 20, 2012 – The Saint Lucia Development Bank SLDB is pleased to report that over its three years of existence, it has managed to assist over 1000 Saint Lucians in various areas. Managing Director of the SLDB, Jean Francois Sonson says this is a proud achievement for the institution which started off on February 22nd, 2009.
He underscored that the bank has made real impact in areas such as education, housing, the productive sector, agriculture and livestock development, tourism and entrepreneurship. “In fact the bank has approved to date over 40 million dollars worth of loans to persons that we serve. Our mandate is basically to promote socio – economic development in Saint Lucia. We have done so in an environment where it has been very challenging and difficult not only for the bank but for many Saint Lucians given what is happening in the international and local economy.
The Managing Director says the bank is there to provide support for the priority areas of national development. As such the bank has attempted to respond adequately to its mandate notwithstanding the current financial environment.
“We have a number of activities but primarily we are seeking to celebrate the work of staff over the last three years in taking the bank to where is it now so we have a staff appreciation activity, we will also be nominating or identifying our employer of the year, 2011/12, we also have some road shows where we will be interacting with customers in different parts of Saint Lucia. We have harvest exhibitions where some of our clients will be exhibiting some of their products at the bank. The bank's theme for their third anniversary observance is “Nurturing and fostering a developing nation in a challenging global environment.” |
