Sir Vincent from a very early age distinguished himself by obtaining an open island scholarship in 1948, after which he pursued studies at the University College, London University where he obtained an LL B degree with honours in 1951 . He subsequently entered the Grays Inns Court School of Law where he successfully completed the Bar Finals and was called to the Bar of England in 1952.  He obtained his LL M at London University in 1953.

His long and distinguished career in the field of Law included a stint as a member of the Seychelles Court of Appeal between 1988 to 1991. He served as the President of The Saint Lucia Bar Association for a number of year.  From 1992 he also served on the Judicial Committee of Her Majesty’s Privy Council.
Between 1969 and 1975, Sir Vincent served as a Nominated Member and Deputy Speaker of the Saint Lucia House of Assembly, and in 1979 he was installed as the first President of the Senate of Saint Lucia.

As an avid sportsman he represented Saint Lucia in cricket, football, lawn tennis and table tennis.
