nis1.jpg (157770 bytes)The 6th floor of the recently constructed National Insurance Building on the Castries Waterfront, is the main venue for the working sessions of the 19th CARICOM Heads of Government Conference.

This facility is of mutual benefit to the Government of St. Lucia and National Insurance Scheme, who have been collaborating closely on the project. When work is completed it will be possible to host any international conference.

Anthony Sevrin - is spearheading the CARICOM Preparatory sub-committee that is responsible for the Conference Site. "We thought that there would be sufficient room and the configuration of the floor would offer us an opportunity to have a proper conference facility."

For more than a month, carpenters, electricians, designers, interior decorators and cleaners have worked feverishly to get the site ready for the conference. lounge3.jpg (102597 bytes)The work on the conference site is being coordinated by the local firms of Inter Island Architects and Planners, in Association with Newell-Lewis and Broadbridge who have converted what was essentially an open empty space into a spectacular facility.lesire2.jpg (89353 bytes)

The site contains offices for the CARICOM Secretariat, a lounge for the Heads of Government and their accompanying Ministers, a sickbay and catering facilities.

St. Lucia has had to postpone the hosting of major conferences because of inadequate facilities but this conference site - which is undoubtedly of international standard is sure to make this a thing of the past.
