Friday 5 November 2010 –  The Ministry of Health has assured the public that its services are operating in-spite of   being affected by Hurricane Tomas.

Ministry of Health officials recently told the GIS that health services are available at   many wellness centres across the island, as authorities recognize the provision of this service as paramount.

“In terms of our facilities some of you may have heard that during the storm actually the roof of the Dennery Hospital had been blown away. We are providing services at other health centres like La Ressource and Richfond in the Dennery area. We know Soufriere has been hard hit. This is where we've had most of our casualties and we still have missing persons from there.”

The ministry is  currently sensitizing the public on  how best to treat water before drinking and maintaining sanitation in post disaster conditions.
