Friday, October 30, 2009 – Education Minister Honourable Arsene James says the disappearance of three year old Deshaun Justin Johnny who has been missing for almost two weeks is puzzling.
The toddler from Dennery has been reported missing since Thursday October 22, 2009, while attending an outing at the Fond d’Or Heritage Park.
Minister James says the disappearance of the young boy ought to be a matter of national concern.
“The Ministry of Education and Culture continues to express concern over the mysterious disappearance of Dishaun Johnny. We empathise with the family and all concerned citizens. We are hopeful that he will return to his family safely and we encourage the family, community and everyone else affected to be optimistic despite the present circumstances. Concerned citizens of Saint Lucia have shown compassion and continue to search relentlessly. We thank all the people who search diligently and those who continue to do so.”
Police are continuing to investigate the disappearance of the toddler and continue to urge citizens to contact law enforcement officials if they have any information on his whereabouts.
The Education Minister says its important that citizens be vigilant and assist in finding the missing boy.
“The Ministry of Education will continue to collaborate with the police who are currently investigating the matter and we ask all citizens to do the same. We are also collaborating with the Division of Human Services and our school counsellors to provide counselling support for all persons affected.”
Minister James has also called on citizens to pray for the safe return of three year old Deshaun Justin Johnny. |
