Monday, March 15, 2004 - St. Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority continues to strengthen security at the island’s air and sea ports, as the latest initiative, a training programme for security personnel under the U.S. $5 million dollar World Bank Emergency Recovery Project got underway today.

Chief of Ports Police, Francis Nelson says the trainees are getting instruction in specialised areas of security work. The areas to be covered include passenger screening, search, use of radio in communication, and risk management.

SLASPA has teamed up with the Directorate of Civil Aviation (DCA) to stage the programme, while the facilitator of the course is Aviation Specialist, Brian Wall, who is contracted by the DCA.
