Thursday March 01, 2012 - Saint Lucia’s Minister for Education Honourable Robert Lewis, is in Trinidad for the launch of the CARICOM Education for Employment Program (C-EFE).

 

The Launch was preceded by a two day workshop by the Labour Market Information component of the program which highlighted C-EFE’s three objectives. 

 

  1. Strengthen regional capacity to co-ordinate, promote and conduct quality assurance for demand-driven technical and vocational education training (TVET) programming and workforce certification;

 

  1. Increased employment of TVET graduates, men and women in targeted, demand-driven programming; and

 

 

  1. Strengthened capacity of TVET institutions to attract, train and graduate citizens with technical and vocational skills that respond to labour market needs.

 

Saint Lucia is one of 12 CARICOM nations participating in C-EFE. The Launch will feature presentations and culminate in the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between CARICOM and the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC).
